ANGELS & VAMPIRES - VOLUME II Chapter II: 'The Ballad of Lonesome Rhodes'

This chapter is dedicated to the late great Wilson Pickett, one of my biggest inspirations and
to the Thames River Whale who probably died after realizing that he had gone through all of
that trouble to get to London and they already had a Prince of Wales!
Also dedicated to Madame Coretta Scott King.

INTRODUCTION:
the title of this chapter was inspired in part by a film I saw
as a child starring Andy Griffith called 'A FACE IN THE CROWD',
it left a vivid impression and for whatever reason at the time
I really identified with the character of Lonesome Rhodes.
ENJOY!!!
The 7 songs contained herein follow the logical progression of the
body's chakra system. In sequential order each of the 7 represent
the main energy portals of the body's electromagnetic matrix field.
From the root chakra (Screamer), sacral (Honestly), solar plexus (Irene),
heart (Marlene), throat (The Ballad of Lonesome Rhodes),
third eye (C.Y.A.M.G.) and crown (Duchess). ENJOY!!!

*no corporate A&R or other recording industry executives were hurt or used during the
making of this project. We avoided them by playing as a deterrent loud music by unsigned
bands which contained neither covers of old songs nor samples. This confused them and
kept them away.

Lyrics:

Screamer

I knew my father like the back of his hand
more father than I needed to understand
I was brought up in the world to suppress my scream
I didn't realize it could spoil all my dreams

If all I've got is one last dream
then I'm not gonna beg if you know what I mean

'cause now I'm a screamer
now I'm a screamer

I knew my father like a military child
marching to another rhythm single file
I was brought up in the world to hide my pride
and took it undercover until time was on my side

If all I've got is one last dream
then I'm not gonna beg if you know what I mean

'cause now I'm a screamer
now I'm a screamer

I knew my father like a west bound train
I curled up in a cloud form and prayed for rain
I was brought up in the world to suppress my rage
I didn't realize I could die in that cage

If all I've got is one last dream
then I'm not gonna beg you better listen to me

'cause now I'm a screamer
now I'm a screamer

Honestly

You ask me if I'm still in love with you
You ask me if your love still follows through
You ask me if there's more that you can do
but

Honestly
I get what I need from you
Honestly
I get what I need from you

You ask me if your smile still has it's glow
You ask me if it's someone you might know
You ask me if your kisses still ring true

Honestly
I get what I need from you
Honestly
I get what I need from you

You ask me if I'm still in love with you

Honestly
I get what I need from you
Honestly
I get what I need from you
Honestly
I get what I need from you

Irene

Through dangerous thunder mountains
through a rugged and raging sea
with a stagger and bloodshot eyes

Irene
I lean on you
Irene
I lean on you

Through the jungle with bullets flying
with the mercury jumping and rising
with an anger that's full on view

Irene
I lean on you
Irene
I lean on you

Through the gravel with knuckles dragging
through community finger wagging
with a stagger and bloodshot eyes

Irene
I lean on you
Irene
I lean on you
Irene
I lean on you

Marlene

You walk a fine line on the streets
But I love you baby
You walk a fine line on the streets
You do
You hang on until the dawn
And wake to find out that you're gone

Marlene
I'm here to love you
Marlene
I'm here to care
Marlene
I'm here to love you
Anywhere

The nights are lonely but
They know you well
And the days are hostile
In between
But the nights are on your side
And hearts are beating for your time

Marlene
I'm here to love you
Marlene
I'm here to care
Marlene
I'm here to love you
Anywhere

You walk a fine line on the streets
But I love you baby
You walk a fine line on the streets
You do
You hang on until the dawn
And wake to find out that you're gone

Marlene
I'm here to love you
Marlene
I'm here to care
Marlene
I'm here to love you
Anywhere

The Ballad of Lonesome Rhodes

Soldier boys chasing after you
With the older boys racing for you too
I was slowly feeling fine
I was so excited
There we were dancing on the dunes
She said she was a step child of the moon
She was so inside my head
That my mind could soon be read
But she was someone else's mystery to unravel
So farther down the lonesome road I travel

I met her when the wind was blowing in
And I kissed her when the waves had wet her skin
I was slowly feeling fine
I was so delighted
Tumbleweeds drifting in the breeze
And hanging like the lovers on her sleeve
She was so inside my head
That my heart would soon be bled
But she was someone else's mystery to unravel
So farther down the lonesome road I travel
Guess she was someone else's mystery to unravel
So farther down the lonesome road I travel
I travel

C.Y.A.M.G.

sail your silver waters slowly
the straits are wide
there's a veil between your shadow
and your appetite
so throw your arms around me baby
and

take a look in the mirror
'cause you are my girl
take a look in the mirror
'cause you are my girl
take a look in the mirror
'cause you are my girl
put your red dress on
and put on your lipstick
because I want a red kiss from you

dance around your ashes
when you burn inside
once the arrow pierces your heart
it turns the tide
so throw your arms around me baby
and

take a look in the mirror
'cause you are my girl
take a look in the mirror
'cause you are my girl
take a look in the mirror
'cause you are my girl
put your red dress on
and put on your lipstick
because I want a red kiss from you

take a look in the mirror
'cause you are my girl
take a look in the mirror
'cause you are my girl
take a look in the mirror
'cause you are my girl
put your red dress on
and put on your lipstick
because I want a red kiss from you

Duchess

I met a girl who's just for me
She waited there so patiently

I met a girl she's my style and
I thought I heard her say she was
The Queen of The Island

She was the Duchess of Hallelujah
But on Saturday night she'd fool ya
A Diva on the silver screen
But she wasn't like that with me
She wasn't like that with me
I was in it for the morning glory
And I wanted to hear her story
I wanted to hear her story

I met a girl who's just my speed
Full satisfaction guaranteed

I met a girl she's my style and
I thought I heard her say she was
The Queen of The Island

She was the Duchess of Hallelujah
But on Saturday night she'd fool ya
A Diva on the silver screen
But she wasn't like that with me
She wasn't like that with me
I was in it for the morning glory
And I wanted to hear her story
I wanted to hear her story

I met a girl who's just for me
She waited there so patiently

I met a girl she's my style and
I thought I heard her say she was
The Queen of The Island

She was the Duchess of Hallelujah
But on Saturday night she'd fool ya
A Diva on the silver screen
But she wasn't like that with me
She wasn't like that with me
I was in it for the morning glory
And I wanted to hear her story
I wanted to hear her story
I wanted to hear her story….

Instruments were the usual suspects with the addition of a Gibson Super Jumbo Acoustic '60s
vintage and a red Stratocaster S1 going through a Marshall Amp. The Marshall replaced the
Matchless Amp for these sessions.

All songs engineered by Emo Alborghetti and assisted by Matteo Sandri.
All songs mixed by Emo and Sananda. My continued thanks to my partner in crime
Emo 'lo scienziato' (the scientist).
