Dear ones (and twos!) here is another song I hope
you like, it's titled
'Before you knew what love was'
the very capable Michael Bradford wore the engineer's cap (though as
you might expect he wore it backwards) and approached the bass strings
with a -hush- which was better than a -huh?- Sananda fingered and fiddled
with all the rest! (and when he wasn't resting he was avoiding premature
cresting!)
I wrote it in 1990 for an artist called Maxi Priest, but record company
politics kept the exchange from being made. At the time they 'dreaded'
the possibility... other artists over the years approached me about
the song but since I was in Sony lockdown (go directly to jail and do
not pass Tommy Mottola) decided to avoid more politics and kept it instead.
Now it is yours and you can do what you want with it, a relic of time
liberated, a prisoner of the communications war (which is always about
the control of your mind, your souls' pearl) and now free to dance and
skip joyfully over the Web of life that is increasingly connecting us
all, just as the tree of life does.
your Maitreya!
ps A wonderful Italian artist by the name of Luisa Corna may record
and release this song at some point provided of course she gets through
the usual major label crap, that all Artists must endure these days.
Thank God I am FREE!
BEFORE
YOU KNEW WHAT LOVE WAS
My love is like fine wine
So I let her breathe
we settle into silence
With the greatest ease
My love's like a chalice
so I lick the bowl
in quiet preparation
for a life time roleBut if I slip up
she shakes my tree
by not letting me forget
when she says to meI was loving you
Before you ever knew what
Love wasMy love reads like poetry
Taken line by line
though her rhyming meter
throws me every time
My love is a flower
Of a different breed
and her fertile ground
waits for my mystic seedbut do I get it
if I lose my way
soon I do regret it
when I hear her sayI was loving you
Before you ever knew what
Love wasbut do I get it
if I miss a beat
soon I do regret it
when she says to meI was loving you
Before you ever knew what
Love was
Here is another song from my heart to yours!
Words and music: Sananda Maitreya
§
Defrosting leaves me quite vulnerable
Amoeba
A requiem for fading fireflies
That float around a dying flame
The changing form of all my certainties
The shape of Grace is undulating
Amoeba
The finger roll of fates mood indigo
OM shekinah candle burns
Mercy me and my psychology
'Here' is not where it used to be
Amoeba
Defrosting leaves me quite vulnerable

These two songs are for you! On the 30th of June, for the first time
(contrary to past perceptions) I shall step in to my manhood by taking
Francesca Francone to be my
Mrs Maitreya. Both of these songs I dedicate to her and all the women
who have ever taken a chance that their love could salvage a man from
his own disaster. They are also
Dedicated to both of our mothers Frances and Daniela and to our Divine
Mother whose children we all are.

Words and music: Sananda
At random glancing within your eyes
They hypnotize me deeply
The faded sunset explains to me
The sympathy of Angels
The still silence that spirits wear
I see you there inside it
The sparkles dancing above your head
Is skin you've shed now Sacred
Outside of time our Love is so Sacred
The cool september that I once knew
I see in you completely
We belong together like space and time
Like beats and rhyme
It's Sacred

Hail Mary full of Grace
I will surrender to you
Love has me in my place
Patiently waiting for you
Even if I'm wrong
I have learned that faith
Can bring me power
And I have grown strong
Standing in the stillness
Of the hour
'cause my heart
is your heart
Soul Mama full of light
I am indebted to you
Your wisdom gives me sight
Patiently waiting for you
Every little thing
That I've ever learned
Has kept me going
And that is why I cling
To the song I sing
And the peace of knowing
That my heart
Is your heart
Hail Mary full of Grace
I am enraptured by you
Stay with me as I run my race
Patiently standing by me
Hail Mary full of Grace
I will surrender to you
Love has me in my place
Patiently waiting for you

Dear friends, over the last easter week, I scratched my heart and
these two songs fell out!
They concern many of our feelings about the recent war, they are called:
'DADDY CAN I HAVE A WAR?' and 'SHE KNOWS I'M LEAVING'
I recorded them in the beautiful hills of Florence - Italy in a studio
called Larione10.
They were intended to be what they are: raw and primal because war is
raw and primal.
I dedicate them to all soldiers everywhere and to those who grieve for
them.
I would also like to dedicate this to the spirits of Joe Strummer and
Nina Simone.
Yours, Sananda
DADDY CAN I HAVE A WAR?
Daddy can I have a war?
I had no army before
Let me finish off what you never did
And sell it off for the highest bid
Maybe maybe maybe
The time has come
To spare the mother's babies
Who'll come back numb
Daddy can I have a war?
Our hardware must be paid for
Military mamas dishing the lead
The same hands that tuck 'em in bed
Maybe maybe maybe
The time is here
To spare the father's children
Who'll disappear
Daddy can I have a war?
Because I speak for the Lord
We must remember to preach
(Except turn the other cheek)

SHE KNOWS I'M LEAVING
she knows I'm leaving
and might not come home
we may lose pebbles from our family stone
I'll do my duty
I won't back down
But in truth, I'd rather stay around
Please Lord
Can we come to our senses
Lord
And start mending our fences
Lord
And look through much brighter lenses
Lord
I'll send more money to ya
Pray for me Hallelujah
she knows I'm leaving
and prays that she
can root the branches of our family tree
my mother wears
her worries in her hair
but these are the thorns that the rose must bear
Please Lord
Can we come to our senses
Lord
And start mending our fences
Lord
And look through much brighter lenses
Lord
I'll send more money to ya
Pray for me Hallelujah
PS:
Wait for me baby until I fall
